(IAM) has again named Gibbons among The World’s Leading Patent �����ƽ�� in its 2015 edition of IAM Patent 1000.

David E. De Lorenzi��– Chair of the Gibbons Intellectual Property Department – and George W. Johnston, Counsel in the Department, were also recognized as being among IAM’s leading patent practitioners. This is the fifth straight year that IAM has recognized Gibbons and Mr. De Lorenzi.

To compile the IAM Patent 1000, the IAM team conducts extensive research over the course of five months, including approximately 1,500 interviews with in-house counsel and leading attorneys.

Among its accolades, IAM recognized that “many of (Gibbons’) members have first-hand industry experience on their résumés” so the team’s “advice always takes into account the client’s bottom line.” Thus, “for technically complex middle market transactions, it is a great choice; on these deals, companies don’t need an IP monolith – it is better to send in the sniper team.”

IAM’s reviews of Gibbons’ patent post-grant review practice were equally glowing, recognizing that clients “keen to avoid spending their hard-earned dollars on years of patent litigation find (the firm’s) sensible pricing model and core patent skills particularly persuasive for this type of work.” Yet on “the litigation front, the firm is in hot demand for cases outside the New Jersey-New York area – it is hired for the quality on offer, rather than its geographic location.”

David De Lorenzi was again recognized by IAM for his patent litigation and transactional expertise: “Sources queue round the block to sing the praises of talisman David De Lorenzi: ‘He combines thoughtfulness and gravitas with energy and creativity, and he’s built an excellent group around him. His knowledge of the law and his litigation instincts are spot on…’” Sources stated that “what truly distinguishes David is his dedication to client service, which comes without prejudice to the delivery of a fine work project. When you litigate with him, you get accurate budget forecasts and frequent communication … (and) tactical insight and pragmatism.”

George Johnston – former Chief Patent counsel of Roche and fairly recent newcomer to Gibbons – was recognized by IAM for his more than 30 years of experience and expertise: “Highly ranked peers say: ‘If I were looking for a patent or licensing expert, I would go after him.’”
